Research: Colour Scheme

Research: Market Research

There are few similar products on the market such as VIBE and Kerrang. VIBE and Kerrang are both sold at good prices.
Kerrag is more targeted at male rock/heavy and soft metal as they advertise a lot of famous rockstars/bands (e.g. Biffy clyro, the Maine, etc). Kerrang has a dark punky scheme on there front cover.  VIBE is a more sophisticated and publishes more articles about rich rap & RnB artist who usually top the charts. Both magazines are predominately masculine. Both magazines are expensive however they do stand out in the shops due to their front covers and fonts. Both of these magazines have a relatively young audience.

Research: Male rappers (rap genre)

Men are represented as strong and dominant people as they’re known for  being involved in action packed situations
In the rap genre men are  represented as treating girls as trophies by exploiting them and using them as sexual objects. This is to show that they’re so successful that lots of girls want them.
Men in the rap genre are represented as  tough people through the stereotypical view of them carrying weapons, smoking drugs etc. All of these emphasise the toughness.

These types of representation are shown throughout the many magazine of the 21st century and are often linked to rap genre magazines, such as 'VIBE'.
